TERROR 7's

This band defines hardcore and have outlasted so many bands that come and go. They stick to what they know and write songs that will stand time. So heavy and hard hitting with so many stagedives and crowd involvement it is nuts. They own the HC game.

Next up is the Rhythm Amongst the Chaos Ep. 21 /30 and the cover is crazy good. Nothing says heavy than a prison bloke with LA gang tatts.

Monuments and Melodies

This band has been around for nearly 20 years and they get better and better. When bands are around this long they tend to release a greatest hits which is good but it often signals an end for a band. But news on the interwebz says they are heading into the studio for another album which is good news by me. Anyway this is their LP set for Monuments and Melodies which is a pretty good package and I actually picked it up in JB which was a complete suprise as they tend to never have anything that catches my eye. All songs on this set span across heaps of albums, eps, b-sides, acoustics...the works. Each portrait photo is a sleeve which holds 1 LP , except for one which doubles over. The last photo is just an example of one of the LP's, they are all pretty much similar looking. Kudos to Steph taking these pics with a fish eye lens, makes look even cooler.

Its been a bit since my last one but I have acquired some awesome stuff that I'm pretty stoked on owning.
First up is Incubus - Morning View. I have been searching and searching for this and being a long time fan I had to have it on vinyl. I paid more than what I wanted to for it but if I didn't bite the bullet now I wouldn't of later down the track.


The next one was a pre order, so you get it on the day of release that means. So 2.5 months later after that date, it comes along. Well worth it though, one of the best looking LP's out there and also one of the best Australian releases in my eyes. Break Even - The Bright Side

Last but not least is the /100 pressing of Thrice - Identity Crisis on black. Someone over in the U.S had seen my Thrice collection and had got into contact with me saying she had this version which I had missing. She was more than happy to part ways with it as she wanted someone to have it who really wanted it. What made this better is that she wasn't one of those losers out there that because its the rarest version of the pressing, she therefore wanted a mint for it. Instead of putting it on Ebay for 100bux, she honestly sold it for less than half of that which was extremely generous of her. So kudos to her. Thrice collection is 97% complete.

CRUEL AGE

Cruel Hand - a band I should have gone and seen last year when they came out but I didn't. So I started picking up alot of their stuff to make up for it. This is just one for now, the rest will have to wait another day. Its their second full length called Prying Eyes. Like all other records it seems, its got heaps of variants, but this one to me looks the most classy. Grey and purple swirl, of /1300. This is heavy hardcore at its best, no frills or b/s, lots of riffs. It rules.

Next up, Iron Age. Hardcore/Metal..call it what you want but it is pretty good. Not sure the pressing details of this and Im not really fussed because I just wanted a copy of it to see if it met the hype I was reading about and it definatley does. Picked this up the other week from Resist and it was a score. I couldn't get a photo without glare on that first picture. 

Miles Away

Top band out of Perth. Can't wait on their upcoming release. First picture is a Bridge 9 promo release to get the band noticed in the U.S. Its out of 500. 

Next up are the Brainwashed 7's. On four colours, each limited of course.

And their full-lengths, Consequences and Rewind, Repeat... there are different versions of the two but I'm pretty happy with this pair. First is of /125 and second is /216.

NCHC

This band hands down should not have broken up. It seems like every good Aus heavy band breaks up after a few releases. In saying that, this is the final show cover version of the Hunting Humans 7''. The front and back cover depicts the amount of fun these guys were, constantly dressing up for shows, singing with fake chainsaws etc etc. This is /50

In saying that, my cousin and I went to the reunion show at the Sando in Newtown, the day before my birthday which was pretty sweet.

The tiny room had no A/C, no windows and only 1 door letting air in. The same room had nearly 150 people in it., if not more. It was a show underwater with the amount of sweat dripping off peoples bodies. We were in a flood of perspiration. Usually when your in the shower for a while your fingers get wrinkly, this was happening to us not even an hour into the show. It was that hot, they had to pull their set short. Either way, i found this great photo of the night, not sure who took it:

BOSTON

Ive often thought about starting a Have Heart collection, but after much lurking around, I came to realise that I will probably be working on it for the rest of my life and will have to take out a $5000 loan as there are somewhere between 30 -40 releases, if not more that all go for crazy ridiculous prices. So maybe 1 or 2 for me I think. My one and only release I have which happens to be my favourite release anyway, is Songs to Scream at the Sun. This was the second or third pressing of this release and is of /1000. There are other versions but I'm pretty happy with this one. Smart and thought provoking hardcore. Their farewell show at the Annandale as part of their final world tour will go down in my top 5 shows of all time.

However, I do hope to get these two purely because of the fact of how awesome they are.

THRICE COLLECTION

Here it is. Its taken me awhile and its nearly 100 per cent complete. I'm only missing one press of Identity Crisis and one for Beggars as well as the test presses for each and im assuming thats everything thats out there (hopefully).

I'll start off with Identity Crisis. This was their first release however it has just been released on vinyl which is awesome. There is only 1000 copies of this worldwide and I was too late when the preorders went up for this so I missed out on black (/100) but managed to still get green (/300) and blue (/400). I later got the white version (/200) on Ebay for a pretty good price considering the amount I had seen them going for previously.

Next up is Illusion of Safety. Not sure how many were pressed on gold/orange because I cant find that much information on it. I know they are pretty rare and have gone for huge amounts in the past. It looks great on this colour and it also was pressed on black which was a present I received for my beautifffful girlfriend who supports my addiction hahaha. hey babe? 

The next release for the band was The Artist in the Ambulance. Probably their most successful album and this one is a double LP with an added b-side on it which makes that much better. This release was also of /1000.

Next up is Vheissu. Their best release in my eyes though it is hard to pick from these guys. You cant really tell from the picture but the cover is embossed and has got some pretty cool artwork with it.  Another of /1000 release.

The Alchemy Index. This took agggeeeessssss to arrive after orders went up. There was so many things constantly delaying it for months and alot of people were getting inpatient as you would. However the end product is nothing short of amazing. Four 10'' e.p's based around the four elements - fire, water, air and earth. When I fist starting hearing this was what the guys were working on I was a bit skeptical but it turned out awesome. The music for each element played on what the element depicted. Fire being heavy, and earth being very stripped down and mellow for instance. The artwork is insanely awesome and I've never seen a package like this. This was another present and I couldn't be happier with it and her for getting me it. She knows what I like. This release is numbered and of /3000.

Finally is Beggars. Their lastest release and one of the best. There are soooo many versions of this and me being who I am, has to have them all. Im short one colour (blue) and the test press. There was some issues over the amount of copies of these and how many would be signed and numbered, how many wouldn't be and alot of other stuff but all I wanted was to get as many versions as possible. All but three are signed and numbered. Each colour has a limited pressing but overall 2000 I believe were made.
